“Our vision from Day 1 is to improve and lead the way forward for how people interact with NFTs. We didn’t want an NFT to be something that is non-editable. Today, I can be the creator or designer of an NFT if the right smart contract design is in place. That’s what Kadcars wants to do. We want to ensure your personalization is taken from your head, onto the NFT, and translated into the game. It’s all about interaction at the end of the day. The physics and mechanics of Kadcars are all, at the moment, a work in progress because we’re listening to our community. We aim to be a mixture of an arcade racer and a real-world racer,” said MK.

A Mechanical Engineer’s Dream: The Making of Kadcars

One of the project's highlights is the involvement of Mohammed Khalaf, referred to affectionately by his teams as MK. MK is a mechanical engineer whose expertise has been pivotal in designing the game's cars.

One piece of MK’s resume that truly stands out and concretizes his ability is the funding he received from automobile giant, BMW. MK used the funding to build a car from scratch, adding to the depth of realism in Kadcar’s gameplay. MK’s experience has greatly influenced the design and physics of Kadcars.

MK is meticulous. His attention to detail, from suspension and brakes to aerodynamics, further ensures that Kadcar gameplay is visually appealing and grounded in genuine automobile mechanics stemming from his BMW grant.

The Technological Backbone

Mohannad Ahmed or “Mo”, the CTO and software engineer of the team, also plays a crucial role in developing the game's software. His expertise ensures that Kadcars is built on a solid technological foundation, capable of delivering a seamless and engaging experience.

Robertas, Kadcar team lead, has extensive experience working in Web3 and launching an NFT project. Robertas has been involved in the crypto space since 2019. However, his journey from an e-commerce background to launching an NFT project has equipped him with the depth to understand the Web3 ecosystem.

Kadcars: A New Paradigm in Gaming

In addition to having the real-world car mechanic perspective in the car design, Kadcars distinguishes itself by offering players genuine ownership of in-game assets through blockchain technology.

“Web3 gaming is all about ownership. Once you have ownership of the asset that you’re handling or driving, it changes how you interact with the vehicle. Mario Kart is fun, but that’s all it is at the end of the day. You don’t get to walk away with anything after you complete the race. You have bragging rights that you’re the fastest on Rainbow Road. Web3 gaming introduces all of the utilities that gaming NFTs provide you, as well as the ability to own the asset you are using. This brings the inner child out, when you start to customize it and race it,” said MK.

Mo added to this.

“You sink a lot of hours into a video game, and when you transfer to another game, none of that stuff comes over. It can hurt financially. For example, in Call of Duty War Zone 1, many people dumped money into this via the Battle Pass, etc. Hundreds of dollars. Then War Zone 2 came out, and none of this mattered. All of your unlocks were useless. If these assets were NFTs, you would maintain the ownership,” said Mohamed.

Unlike traditional games, where achievements and assets remain confined, Kadcars allows players to own, trade, and rent out their digital assets, introducing a novel concept of asset portability and interoperability in gaming.

“We’re in talks with one project specifically where we could use the same Kadcar NFT but in a different game, as long as the 3D files are supported. In the future, we hope your Kadcar NFT can be used in another game, maybe a racing game, or maybe another Pub-G style racing game. We can give the physics, software, and everything to another developer for another game. The brain of this game exists in the smart contract, which we’ve prioritized since we started building the game,” said Robert.

The game is designed to be a hybrid of arcade and realistic racing experiences. The team aims to ensure Kadcars is accessible to casual gamers while offering enough depth and challenge for more serious enthusiasts.

“No one wants to go around the track where they never have to press the brakes. It (the game) needs to be challenging. We took the challenging aspects of real-world driving and programmed it into our mechanics in a way where we provide a challenge while still getting you excited and keeping the game fast-paced,” said MK.

Why Kadena Blockchain?

Kadcar’s choice of the Kadena blockchain is strategic. It was driven by Kadena’s low transaction costs, gas stations feature, and the Pact programming language.

The above features allow Kadcars to create a cost-effective and community-friendly gaming experience, allowing seamless transactions and upgrades. The gas stations, in particular, represent a breakthrough in making games more accessible by covering transaction costs for players, removing one of the major barriers to entry in Web3 gaming.
